Great news today for Texas Rangers fans from texasrangers.com: The Texas Rangers announced on Thursday that they have signed outfielder Josh Hamilton to a two-year contract covering the 2011 and 2012 seasons. The agreement avoids an arbitration hearing with the three-time All-Star.

In 2010, Hamilton, 29, led all Major Leaguers in batting average (.359) and slugging percentage (.633) and was voted American League Most Valuable Player. He ranked in the AL's top five in on-base percentage (.411), total bases (328), home runs (32) and extra-base hits (75) despite missing 29 games due to injuries.
