A man from DeSoto  (south of Dallas), was arrested recently on drug charges, and some sort of equipment failure allowed him to escape from police as they were trying to take him into custody.

What happened next was totally unexpected.

He was wearing handcuffs at the time he escaped, and he ended up calling 911 for help getting them off.

29-year-old Dyonta Rose complained to the 911 operator about the pain the handcuffs were causing, and as you might guess, that led officers right to Rose's door and they were able to take him back into custody.

Now he's facing an escape charge in addition to the drug charges.

Being smart is hard, huh?
