The news of Scott Weiland's death has permeated through the music world. Though the cause of his death has not been officially declared, Weiland certainly battled many demons for decades. Despite Weiland's history, the singers death still came as a shock, and Stone Temple Pilots along with Velvet Revolver have both penned tributes for their late singer.

Weiland was discovered lifeless on his tour bus last night (Dec. 3) shortly before Scott Weiland & the Wildabouts were scheduled to perform in Minnesota. The outpouring of love from fans, family, friends and bandmates has been overwhelming, solidifying the importance of Weiland's life and body of work to countless people.

Stone Temple Pilots posted the following message addressed to Weiland via Facebook:

Dear Scott,

Let us start by saying thank you for sharing your life with us.

Together we crafted a legacy of music that has given so many people happiness and great memories.

The memories are many, and they run deep for us.

We know amidst the good and the bad you struggled, time and time again.

It’s what made you who you were.

You were gifted beyond words, Scott.

Part of that gift was part of your curse.

With deep sorrow for you and your family, we are saddened to see you go.

All of our love and respect.

We will miss you brother,

Robert, Eric, Dean

Duff McKagan posted Velvet Revolver's memorial to Weiland via Facebook:

We are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of our old friend and bandmate, Scott Weiland. We experienced a good chunk of life with Scott, and even in his darkest times, we all had hope and love for him. His artistry will live on, of that, there is no doubt.

Deepest condolences and sadness are for his children, Noah and Lucy. We all travelled around this world together on tour; our band, wives, and kids…and we grew to a big family that still remains to this day.

It’s just so sad and brutal from any perspective.

Rest In Peace Scott

Slash, Duff, Matt, and Dave

After Weiland's departure from Velvet Revolver in 2008, he focused his efforts back on Stone Temple Pilots for a reunion. STP parted ways with Weiland once again in 2013. During the last few weeks of his life, Weiland had spoken about getting back together with Stone Temple Pilots following the news that the band's most recent singer, Chester Bennington, had parted ways with the group. Weiland had also expressed interest in reuniting with Velvet Revolver. Sadly, we won't get to see him reunite with either band.
