Stone Temple Pilots released their debut album, Core, 20 years ago. Now they've announced they're not allowing the anniversary to pass unmarked. They've posted a statement on their website saying they will celebrate the milestone with a special tour.

While the message doesn’t give any details about the anniversary tour, fans are asked to “stay tuned for upcoming tour dates.”

Guitarist Dean DeLeo recently told Rolling Stone he's hoping the band's anniversary tour will feature "intimate shows -- really lovely theaters around the country ... [playing] the first album in its entirety, and then maybe take requests." DeLeo added he would also like to celebrate the anniversary by reissuing Core along with some outtakes from its recording session.

Core was certified eight times platinum in 2001, and STP sold nearly 40 million albums worldwide in the 1990s.
