At around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday the National Weather Service alerted East Texans of a Tornado Warning, particularly for Northern Smith County, southeastern Wood County and southwestern Upshur County.

The warning was in effect as of 5:21 pm according to weather.gov:

A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Lindale, or 10 miles south of Mineola, moving east at 30 mph.

Hazards include tornado and quarter-size hail.

Please exercise caution and stay within shelter to protect yourself from debris.

The warning indicated the storm will be near Hawkins around 5:55 p.m. and near Big Sandy around 6:05 p.m.
