Season 28 is shaping up to be a big one for The Simpsons; not solely for the series’ first hour-long special, or even the 600th episode, but also some of the familiar faces popping up. To wit, the joint Treehouse of Horror and 600th episode will feature the return of one of Homer’s greatest adversaries, as the famous Frank Grimes pops in from beyond the grave.

Entertainment Weekly shared the first photo and details of the returning Season 8 role, which first saw Frank Grimes (or “Grimey,” as he liked to be called) losing both his sanity at the sight of Homer’s blissful boobery, and ultimately his life. The Hank Azaria character has earned the occasional reference, along with an appearance from Frank Grimes Jr. in Season 14.

This time around, “Treehouse of Horror XXVII” will see the actual Grimes cameo as a ghost, after Sideshow Bob assembles “a sinister squadron of Simpsons enemies to try to kill the Simpsons,” according to executive producer Al Jean. “If that doesn’t make people tune in, I don’t know what else we can say.”

Elsewhere of Season 28, the latest Treehouse of Horror will feature Sarah Silverman, Drew Carey and Kelsey Grammer. Other landmark events will see the series airing its first hour-long episode, an Empire spoof with guest stars like Taraji P. Henson and Keegan-Michael Key in a hip-hop take on The Great Gatsby.

Also on deck to lend their voices this season are Patton Oswalt, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Allison Janney, Matt Leinart, and world-chess champion Magnus Carlsen, along with Suze Orman, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Jason Alexander and screenwriter Robert McKee in a Trump-skewering episode.

In the meantime, Season 28 will premiere on Sunday, September 25.
