Westboro Baptist Church plans to picket the funerals of the victims of the Connecticut school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. If you agree that this is a horribly hateful protest, please sign this petition to make the U.S. government legally recognize the church as a hate group.

Through the years, Westboro Baptist Church has been making appearances across the nation. Many of this protests and pickets are outside a cemetery where a family grieves their loss -- many times at funerals of soldiers. To show such blind hatred is hard to imagine. With the nation watching, this church will head to the sites of the burials of the innocent children that perished after the Sandy Hooks school shooting. This is a cold-hearted and seemingly malicious act. Freedom of speech is one thing. This is different.

There have been groups in the past that have tried to block the Westboro Baptists from those in mourning. Motorcyclists have surrounded the group and revved their engines to drown out the sounds of their screams of things such as, "God hates you, you are going to hell!" or "Thank God for dead soldiers!" The video below shows a group of these men and women showing their support for those that have fallen.

With numerous protests such as these, Westboro Baptist Church has become famous for their hate. Through the years that they have been active, many have stood up against them. Not just in the instances like what the video above describes. Group like, Anonymous, have been working hard to create some pressure on the church group.

Gizmodo.com explains, "Your friendly, faceless, neighborhood hacking group Anonymous has responded by doing what they do best: publishing private information, in this case, about the members of the Westboro Baptist Church. Anonymous has now published a list of Westboro Baptist Church members along with plenty of personal information such as home addresses, emails, and phone numbers. On the more legal end of the activism spectrum, the group is also pushing a petition to legally recognize the Westboro Baptist Church as a hate group. "

This petition is meant to, in some ways, put a stop to the Westboro Baptist Church. If you feel that you agree with the opposition against them, then here is the link for the petition.

For a little more information, here is a video that the Anonymous group produced to explain their take on this church's hateful ways.

I must agree with Gizmodo.com, that this is the best quote from the video.
