A new autobiography is on the way to remind readers that Phil Collins is not dead yet. Though at times, it sure seems like he got close. The book, titled Not Dead Yet and due Oct. 25, promises to explore the longtime Genesis drummer and singer's storied career, as well as his "three failed marriages, his alcoholism and his ill health."

A lingering back issue forced Collins from the stage for about three years, though recently he's made some tentative moves back into the spotlight. He also personally oversaw a series of deluxe solo album remasters that just wrapped up this month with ... But Seriously and Going Back.

"Throughout [my life], there have been lots of highs, and more than a few lows," Collins said (via Rolling Stone). "I'm being completely honest about all of them, embarrassingly so in some cases. This autobiography has been on my mind for a few years, and I decided that now was the time. Things had happened in my personal life that caused me to take stock."

He first mentioned the memoir last October, saying it would provide a "warts and all" look at his life and career "from [his] point of view." Not Dead Yet will mark Collins' second book project, after The Alamo and Beyond: A Collector's Journey, which highlighted his extensive collection of artifacts from Texas' Battle of the Alamo. The new book aims to provide more insight into Collins as a person.

"In many respects, I've had a dream life," he added. "It's certainly a life worth writing about. I've been incredibly lucky, but I've also worked extremely hard. I've collaborated with some of my heroes, written songs that people have liked and wildly surpassed my initial hope to make a living as a drummer."
