Pearl Jam surprised the crowd by delivering a powerful cover of the Pink Floyd song ‘Mother’ during a recent performance in Berlin, Germany.

On July 5, the band took the stage at the impressive O2 World arena for the second consecutive night and delivered a lineup rich with original songs and covers. In addition to playing fan favorites such as ‘Better Man,’ ‘Do the Evolution’ and ‘Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town,’ Pearl Jam also rocked out to renditions of ‘Eruption’ by Van Halen, ‘Baba O’Riley’ by the Who and the aforementioned Pink Floyd song.

A live video of Pearl Jam’s take on ‘Mother’ from last week’s show can be found below. The audience’s enthusiasm over the cover shines through loud and clear during the opening lines of the song, which tells the story of a boy being raised by a controlling single mom. The band also gave tribute to Pink Floyd last year when they performed ‘Mother’ on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ in the fall.

The concert marks one of Pearl Jam’s last stops on their European tour. Frontman Eddie Vedder will then embark on a solo tour overseas later in the month, followed by a U.S. tour with Glen Hansard throughout November and December.
