Pretty soon, it won't cost you to park in the Fair Parking Garage in downtown Tyler according to the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

Baed on their report, the main reasons were the cost of running the parking garage and equipment not working.

Plus, the city of Tyler wants more people to use it.

I never had any issues with anything not working properly, but then, I don't park downtown on a daily basis. And usually it was only $1 or $2 when I did have to use it.

To offset the parking fees, reserved spaces will continue to be sold. $60 a month for premium spaces on the ground floor and $30 for other reserved spaces.

Poster ads will also be sold at $250 for a three month run.

No official date has been set for the start of free parking.
