Among all the items of rock memorabilia that go up for auction on eBay, this one has to be one of the most unusual: A buyer recently paid $3,000 for a pair of used pajamas once worn on stage by Kurt Cobain.

Cobain’s jammies were sold by someone claiming to be a personal friend of Kurt who was mentioned in the singer’s biography, ‘Heavier than Heaven.’ The seller said one of Cobain’s ex-girlfriends gave the pajamas to a friend, who in turn gave them to him to put on eBay. The friend came into possession of the sleepwear in 1996 and held onto it until now.

Based on photographic evidence, the seller believes Cobain wore the nightwear on stage during a concert at Speedy O’Tubbs Rhythmic Underground in Bellingham, Wash., in 1988. The clothing had a few holes and a tear on the side, but that didn’t stop one buyer from dropping three grand to get his hands on them. That was the only bid made during the auction, which ended late last month.

eBay has seen a lot of Nirvana-related memorabilia, as fans try to get their hands on anything at all related to the late icon and his band. Last month, someone paid more than $10,000 for a CD autographed by all three members of the group.
