Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Doesn’t Expect Tyler’s Matt Flynn Back in 2012 [VIDEO]

Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Matt Flynn, one of Tyler’s favorite football sons, likely won’t be a backup after this season — and this coming from the Pack’s star quarterback.

Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers said on Tuesday he does not expect Flynn — a 2003 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School — to return to Green Bay for the 2012 season, especially after his 480-yard, six-touchdown performance last Sunday against Detroit.

“Not going to happen, I don’t think,” Rodgers said on his weekly radio show for ESPN Milwaukee. “Going into the game I think we maybe had a 50/50 shot; now I don’t know if we have any shot. It’s always good when you can have a couple good quarterbacks on the roster just in case something happens to the starter, but I think myself and the staff and the guys on the team would love to see Matt get an opportunity to play and be a starter.”

Flynn will be one of the hottest commodities on the free agent market in the offseason, and should be the top available quarterbacks alongside fellow Texans and incoming rookies Andrew Luck of Stanford and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III from Baylor. And plenty of teams are looking for quarterbacks, including Miami, Kansas City, Seattle, Washington and Jacksonville.

That means a big pay day for Flynn, who led Robert E. Lee to the Class 5A Division I state semifinals in 2002 and the quarterfinals in 2003. He led LSU to the BCS National Championship in 2007 before being drafted in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Packers.
