October 2016 New Music Releases
Our list of October 2016 New Music Releases often looks both forward and backward. For instance, David Bowie's final recordings will be released, and his old friend and collaborator Iggy Pop issues a celebrated 2016 concert at the Royal Albert Hall that features several of their old songs.
Fans will also be treated to new albums by Bon Jovi, the Pretenders, David Crosby and Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider, while archival live projects are on tap from Peter Gabriel, Frank Zappa and others.
This month's reissues include David Lee Roth's Your Filthy Little Mouth, Creedence Clearwater Revival's Live in Europe and King Crimson's Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair, as well as a huge box set (to the tune of 17 discs) featuring Lou Reed's RCA and Arista records output. We'll also be getting new concert recordings by the reunited Santana featuring Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie, and from Dr. John – who was the guest of honor at a sweeping tribute concert featuring Bruce Springsteen, John Fogerty, Warren Haynes and many others.
This House Is Not for Sale is Bon Jovi's first collection of new material since 2013's What About Now — and their first since the abrupt departure of guitarist Richie Sambora. Chrissie Hynde recorded Alone, the first Pretenders album since Break Up the Concrete in 2008, at the Nashville studio of the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, who lends a hand.
