The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ have a new album due out the last week of August. Drummer Chad Smith told the Rock News Desk that while the record does not yet have a name, they “got lots of songs” and are now choosing which will appear on album. He added, “Everybody’s happy, healthy and excited to get back out there and play.” More after the jump.

This will be the band’s first album since guitarist John Frusciante was replaced by Josh Klinghoffer. Chad says there is “good chemistry” in the group with Josh. Singer Anthony Kiedis previously said the album would be called Dr. Johnny Skinz’s Disproportionately Rambunctious Polar Express Machine-head. That does not seem to be the case.
