Netflix users, there is a new email scam targeting subscribers on a worldwide scale. NBC News reports that many Netflix subscribers are receiving an email indicating that 'your account is being disabled' and will ask you for your payment information.

According to news sources including CBS News, these emails are not coming from Netflix, they are phishing emails attempting to obtain your personal information by pretending to be a representative of the company. These online scam artists create fake websites that look eerily like Netflix. Then they send you a link to that via email.

Netflix issued a statement saying they will never ask for any personal information via email.  That includes the following like payment information, social security number, or account password.

The company also suggests forwarding any suspicious email to phishing@netflix.com.
