It all began in 1962 when President JFK signed a proclamation making May 15th Peace Officers Memorial Day and the same week National Police Week. Every year thousands of law enforcers from around our country make their way to Washington, DC to take part in events that honor those who gave their life in the line of duty.

I know we all take the our Tyler and Longview police for granted, like when we see one of the side of the road. At that point in time we are hoping that their radar guns aren't pointed at us. But when push comes to shove we love our boys (and girls) in blue. Our law officers are out no matter what the conditions trying their hardest to protect us. Their jobs are not easy in any sense of the word so cut them some slack. They are just like you and me, but everyday they put their lives on the line.
