A traffic stop in Tyler turns into a pursuit, then ends in tragedy.

According to our media partner KLTV, Tyler police attempted a traffic stop on the driver and passenger of a motorcycle Thursday afternoon on Highway 31 west. The driver, later identified as Sean Eammon Waite, fled the scene, and police initiated a chase.

Smith County Sheriff's deputies got involved in the chase, following him on Highway 31 west and also on Loop 49. The chase ended when Waite lost control of the bike while approaching the Farm-to-Market 2661 intersection and crashed.

KLTV reports that Waite and his female passenger, Alicia Ann Adams, 28, were thrown from the bike. Waite fled from the scene but was later found and taken into custody. Adams died at the scene.

Waite was charged with first-degree murder and other offenses, and his bond totals $751,000.
