The music industry and fans alike have been gloating over the Foo Fighters pretty much since their formation more than 20 years ago. With their sophomore album (and our favorite), The Colour And The Shape influencing the rock scene for 18 years now, it seems like as good of time as ever to celebrate their ongoing legacy. YouTube string-based sensations Miracles of Modern Science seem to agree, laying down an awesome cover of everyone's favorite song, "Everlong," in their living room. You can watch the clip above.

The cover features five performers reinterpreting the track on stringed instruments: a violin, cello, mandolin, bass and some necessary drums. The singer nails the vocals as if it was his own track, surely well enough to make Dave Grohl proud. It's hard to nail that epic breakdown toward the end, but we applaud Miracles of Modern Science's effort.

The iconic song was recently performed by the Foos themselves at the Ed Sullivan Theater for David Letterman's final appearance as host of the Late Show. It was described as Letterman's "favorite song" and one of his most cherished performances on the set when it was originally performed back in 2000 following his recovery from emergency heart surgery.
