The Texas Lottery announced at 11 a.m. that the Mega Millions jackpot has reached $1 billion dollars.

If you take the cash option, you would pocket, give or take, $565 million.

I will say, I was pretty happy taking home $4 from Wednesday night's Powerball drawing. I didn't hit a single number but one line had the Powerball. So, playing with house money, I got me a couple of lines for tonight's drawing. We'll see.

Chances are astronomical, I know, but the motto "you can't win if you don't play" is true.

Plus, I don't indulge too much in the lottery anyway. I would say probably once every couple of months I'll drop $20 on some scratch off tickets. And to be honest, it's kind of a waste anyway because I haven't anything significant on scratchers in years. I won $100 on one in 1999 and that was the last time I won anything more than the value of the ticket.

But hey, I'll take the chance and daydream about the private island I'll buy, the party house I'll build and the days of relaxation for the rest of my life.

That imaginary sand sure feels good in between my toes.
