This commercial is terrible in a ‘Friday’-is-so-bad-yet-strangely addictive way.

This ad for the East Hills Mall in St. Joseph, Missouri features people with voices so bad Simon Cowell would’ve mercilessly ridiculed them during his ‘American Idol’ days. It's so bad it makes this ad look cutting edge.

The spot is part of a campaign to get customers to do their back-to-school shopping at the mall, although this may seriously backfire. Who’d want to give up free shipping on Amazon to hang out at a place that looks like it’s straight out of 1980s cable access?

Then again, maybe there is something to this. We bet you’ll be singing “boots and pants and boots and pants” quicker than the time it takes to treat yourself to some chow mein at Panda Express.

Happy shopping, everyone.
