Lufkin's "Thundering 13" took their first game in the Little League World Series 5-1 over the Great Lakes Region team Thursday night (August 17).

And as they have been doing throughout their journey, they used the long ball to get the win.

Collin Ross got the scoring started in the bottom of the 2nd inning with a solo home run.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Lufkin hit back to back to back home runs starting with pitcher Hunter Ditsworth's two run homer followed by Collin Ross' second home run then Clayton Wigley came off the bench to wrap up the home run derby.

Hunter Ditsworth pitched 6 strong innings allowing only two hits, one earned run and eight strikeouts.

Lufkin will take on the New England Region Sunday at 10 A.M. on ESPN.

Good luck boys. All of East Texas is rooting for you.
