Crystal Springs Liquor Beer Wine is the biggest alcohol retailer in Smith County, and they've made a decision that may benefit Texas distilleries.

No more Russian Vodka!  What's happening?

Crystal Springs says in a news release that in light of the events in Crimea and the Ukraine, Crystal Springs in Winona has decided to impose it's own economic sanctions on Russia and stop selling Russian spirits and vodkas.

Instead, Crystal Springs is encouraging its customers to "Buy Texan" and switch to Texas-based spirits, including Dripping Springs Vodka, and Tito's and Deep Eddy Vodka out of Austin.

The Russians aren't the only ones that can make good alcohol.  Crystal Springs says Texas is quickly becoming a major player as a spirits producer. Texas wineries have started earning international honors and now the hard drinks like Bourbons, Whiskeys, and Vodkas are gaining popularity.  And Texas are great at shopping local, and supporting local businesses.

With that said, drink up!  Responsibly of course.

Have a great weekend.
