While there are no shortage of talented action stars working today, I’d be hard-pressed to name two American actors I like more than Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves. Both Cruise and Reeves are often called upon to learn elaborate fight choreography in lieu of snappy editing or misleading camera work. We’ve come to appreciate each actor’s hard work with the training reels for movies like John Wick and Collateral, and speaking frankly, watching someone like Keanu Reeves practice his quick draw for hours on end is the perfect cure for whatever bad CGI ails you.

So when the company that helped train Keanu Reeves for John Wick Chapter 2 released a video of the actor practicing his skills with firearms (via Heroic Hollywood), you better believe I was going to check that out. Reeves is, as always, a perfectionist in this video, getting increasingly angry at his inability to quickly draw his gun from his waistband. It’s the attention to detail  —  and, as the video itself says, his search onscreen truth in the form of proper technique  —  that makes him such an engrossing action hero on the screen.

Here’s the full synopsis for John Wick Chapter 2:

Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.

The film will also bring back Ian McShane, Bridget Moynahan, John Leguizamo, and Lance Reddick, and include newcomers Common, Laurence Fishburne, Peter Stormare, and Ruby Rose. John Wick Chapter 2 will shoot its way into theaters on February 10, 2017.
