It's that time of the year when the old thermometer gets a work out and it was pushed to the limit today in Shreveport!

Springtime in the Ark-La-Tex has some pretty big temperature swings, it can be 38 one day, 76 degrees the next couple of days and back in to the 40's a few days later! It's just something we're accustomed to in this part of the country. But what we're not accustomed to are temperatures like the ones in Death Valley in the Mojave Desert in California!

That's exactly what the temperature was in Shreveport this morning around 10:30 a.m.! As I logged on to the National Weather Service's website to get a look at the forecast for the next few days, the temperature in Shreveport caught my attention quickly! I clicked on its page and the temperature stayed the same - a comfortable 122 degrees! Needless to say it was a little hot this morning in downtown at the airport!

Obviously it was some kind of mechanical or technical error, because if it were 122 degrees, I wouldn't be anywhere near here! I'd move to the Midwest to experience Winter Storm Oliver (as named by The Weather Channel) as it makes its way to the northeast.

Thankfully though we all know that temperature wasn't real at all, but we do know that the area is set to receive a lot of rain over the next few days. With heavy rains comes the potential of flash flooding. Remember, if you're out driving and you run into a flooded roadway and can't see the pavement clearly, turn around, don't drown.

Stay safe and above all - stay cool when it's 122 degrees outside!

P.S. - at the time of me writing this, the temperature was still 122!
