David Bowie now considers himself retired from touring according to his booking agent, John Giddings.

Giddings, who also represents such superstars as Madonna and U2, says that every time he meets with Bowie, the Thin White Duke begins the conversation with "I'm not touring."  Giddings states that he always responds with a laugh, saying, "I'm not asking."

“He has decided to retire and, like Phil Collins, you can’t demand these people go out there again and again and again. I’m really pleased and proud that the last show he ever did in the UK was the 2004 Isle Of Wight Festival.”

But, don't lose hope Bowie fans. According to Giddings, David has not ruled out the possibility of doing the occasional one-off gig here and there. So, a festival appearance, for example, may not be out of the question.

Studio-wise, David Bowie's most recent recorded offering was the critically acclaimed "The Next Day" in 2013.  Bowie also wrote and recorded the opening title song to the television series The Last Panthers, which is due to air in November.

Additionally, who could forget the surprise popularity of Jessica Lange's German-tinged cover of his classic "Life On Mars" as featured in American Horror Story: Freak Show?

So, it's clear that Dave hasn't retired completely. He's just sick of touring ... and, really, at this stage of his illustrious career -- who could blame him?
