The gTar is a fully digital guitar that shows you how to play songs via an array of interactive LEDs along the fretboard. To do this, you must first dock your iPhone in the guitar’s body and load up the FREE gTar app, which comes with an extensive library of songs that’s growing every day.

One of the big downers of learning the guitar is you sound like absolute crap at first. It can be distracting and discouraging. That’s why gTar has an intuitive feature called SmartPlay, which mutes out incorrect notes. While that’s great for self-esteem, some would say it rewards sloppy play and will lead to tendencies that will surely be exposed on a regular axe.

So far, the gTar is only compatible with the iPhone 4/4S, but they hope to add more compatible devices in the future. It’s received positive reviews from TechCrunch, Evolver.FM, Rolling Stone, Wired, Mashable, PC Mag, and the CEO of Dropbox. The estimated retail price is around $450. Pfft, we could start a ‘Guitar Hero’ symphony with that kinda dough.
