Grads Looking For Jobs: Make Dallas Your Destination
May is the month for graduations, but once the celebrations subside, there’s the reality of moving on to start a career. According to a new report from Forbes, the Metroplex is now #1 for job opportunities, not just in Texas, but across the entire country!
In addition, two other Lone Star State markets make the national Top 12.
Forbes just published an article specifically citing the Dallas-Plano-Irving area as the new top spot for job growth, displacing San Francisco-San Jose’s “tech corridor” based on an employment increase of over 20% in the past 5 years. The Bay Area still ranks 2nd, but Nashville is right on their heels, also posting 20% job growth since 2011.
The study points out that Dallas is the best overall option for workers because of its diverse industry opportunities, noting recent move-ins by large companies such as Toyota, State Farm, & Jacobs Engineering. Forbes also notes the relatively reasonable cost of housing in North Texas, especially compared with California.
Further proof that Texas is red hot for career options: Austin-Round Rock finishes #7 in this same study, & San Antonio-New Braunfels ranks 12th.
I know lots of proud parents in East Texas who’ll be pleased to see their recent grads might not have to move all that far away in pursuit of their careers.
