So Texas has had Chicken Fried Steak Day for three years, now we have a Houston Astros Day, according to Governor Abbott.

ABC 13 reported today that Governor Abbott declared Friday, November 3, 2017 as Houston Astros Day. They did something recently... what was it? Oh, yeah they won the World Series in 7 games against the Los Angeles Dodgers!

This historic victory really resonates with Texans all over - Rangers or Astros fans - after Hurricane Harvey caused massive damage to all over, particularly the city of Houston.

Abbott said in a statement per Big Country:

Like the Astros, Texans are known for their spirit and resolve, and in the wake of Harvey’s devastation, we were able to see the persevering nature of Texans on full display. This victory is a great honor for the Astros, and will serve as inspiration to a city and state that is passionate about its sports.

Houston ISD was already preparing for a celebration by giving the day off to all Houston ISD students. According to the Chron, Texas' largest school district canceled classes on Friday so students can celebrate the World Series victory.

Rangers fan or Astros fan - this is a big Texas win.
