Even the grungy apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Frances Bean Cobain, the 18-year-old daughter of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Hole singer Courtney Love, showed off her tattoos and puffed on a cigarette for a series of black-and-white photos taken by fashion designer Hedi Slimane.

Cobain comes across as cool and rebellious, not unlike her grunge rocker parents, exposing tattoos like a quote from British writer Quentin Crisp on her right shoulder blade and lyrics to the Jeff Buckley song ‘Grace’ on one of her arms.

Attitude aside, Cobain has shown lately that she has much more in common with her famous parents. Just like her father did, the younger Cobain draws, and a collection of her ink works was on display last summer in a Los Angeles gallery. She’s also dabbled in music, contributing background vocals to the self-titled 2010 album by Evelyn Evelyn, a band led by Dresden Dolls singer Amanda Palmer and experimental musician Jason Webley.
