Marvel has just released the newest trailer for the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and this time around Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain' plays an even bigger role than it did in the film's Super Bowl spot.

The ad opens with the film's ragtag group of space mercenaries preparing to fight some terrifying monster. The recently resurrected Baby Groot has apparently been put in charge of providing the battle's soundtrack. Once he clicks the final two wires of his stereo system together, John McVie's famous bass line from "The Chain" kicks in.

In addition to some very impressive sci-fi action sequences, the trailer hints at friendship, family and romantic conflicts among the team -- in particular a seemingly unrequited crush on Zoe Saldana's Gamora from Chris Pratt's Peter Quill / Star-Lord.

That makes this song from Fleetwood Mac's 1977 masterpiece Rumours a very appropriate choice, as it is one of the many album tracks focused on the two failing relationships within the band (between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham and John and Christine McVie) at the time of its recording.

Rumours went on to become one of the biggest selling albums in history, catapulting Fleetwood Mac to the highest levels of fame. In the following decades, the ever-evolving group would endure more drama and lineup changes, but with Christine McVie's return in 2014, their full "classic" lineup was reunited once again.

Buckingham and Christine McVie recently announced they are working on their first-ever duets album, with John McVie and drummer Mick Fleetwood also participating in the recording. Initially, there had been hints that this project would be a full-on Fleetwood Mac effort, but Nicks is currently focusing on her solo career, touring to promote her 2014 24 Karat Gold - Songs From the Vault album with support from the Pretenders.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens in theaters nationwide on May 5.
