Fisherman from Norway May Have Caught New World Record Halibut [VIDEO]

We've all heard "fish tales" before. You know like, "you should have seen the one that got away!" Well this is no "fish tale", this may be a new world record for the biggest halibut ever caught.

A German fisherman,Marco Liebenow,  may have just reeled in a world record. This Halibut weighed a whopping 515 pounds. My first question was, "How did he ever reel that baby in?"

Well, the Daily Mail reported the fisherman as saying "reeling in the fish felt like pulling in a submarine."

It took the fisherman 90 minutes along with help from three other men to haul the massive halibut in the boat. In fact, the fish couldn't fit on the 8.6-foot-long boat. Instead, they had to drag it back to harbor alongside the boat.

According to the International Game Fishing Association, the current world record halibut is 459 pounds for Pacific halibut, caught in Alaska in 1996 and 418 pounds for Atlantic halibut, caught in Norway in 2004. Liebenow has contacted the IGFA, but is still waiting on the association's approval.
