Filter have expanded their summer tour, adding several new dates (listed below.) The band entered the studio in April with producer Bob Marlette to record their fifth studio album ‘Gurney and the Burning Books.’ It is due to be released sometime later this year.

In a recent interview with All Knowing Force, frontman Richard Patrick discussed the upcoming album. “We have this beautiful record that starts off heavy and mean and then it goes back to the more moody, almost joyful parts of life. For me, the record that we always try to model is the ‘Title of Record’ era, that sets the standard in how heavy and how light we can go.”

He continued, saying, “We just aspire to make the songs as good and I think the songwriting is superior, we just have to make sure the performances are as desperate and powerful as those crazy takes I did when I was kid.”

Patrick is the lone original member of Filter, and there have been some member changes since 2010‘s ‘The Trouble With Angels’ was released. The current lineup includes guitarist Jonny Radtke, bassist Phil Buckman and drummer Jeff Friedl.

Meanwhile, former Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo has teamed up with Disturbed’s David Draiman for an industrial project called Device.
