Although the official name is the Father And Son Fishing Tournament, moms are encouraged to participate too!  The fishing tournament is coming up Saturday from 8a – 12n at Woldert Park in Tyler.  In today’s busy life, it’s hard to find good quality family time, but now’s the time to slow it down, enjoy your family and make some great memories.

The fishing tournament is designed to bring fathers and sons together, but organizers realize that mom’s are just as important too and for some boys that’s who all they have.  So moms can bring their sons out and fish to win prizes for the team that catches the heaviest fish and the longest fish!  The tournament is open to boys 5 to 15 and begins at 8a with the first weigh in happening at 11:30a.

You’ll need to bring your own poles and bait and there is no pre-registration for the fishing tournament but you should call the Glass Recreation Center though at 903.595.7271 and let them know you’ll be participating.

The Father and Son Fishing Tournament was held last year and was a huge success.  Glass Recreation Supervisor, Ann Santana had this to say about it,

Fathers who came to last year’s event were pleased with the connection and the time they were able to share with their sons. Everyone had a great time.”

The tournament is coming up Saturday (November 5th) at Woldert Park at 501 W. 32nd St. (next to the Glass Recreation Center).
