The City Of Tyler's Traffic division will be working on the traffic signals at one of the city's busiest intersections Friday morning (Aug. 7) to conduct emergency repairs to a signal light pole.

The unplanned, emergency work will begin around 9 a.m. Friday morning to replace a traffic signal pole on the northwest side of the intersection near Classic Toyota, because it was damaged in an accident Wednesday night.

The signal pole was struck high up on the pole by a truck transporting salvaged construction materials. I happened to notice the particular pole was leaning quite a bit on my way in to work this morning and noticed the illuminated street name sign was missing along with the street light on top of it.

It looked like the pole was going to cave in and give way bringing the pole down with the signal on it.

According to a press release from the City of Tyler, the emergency work is expected to be completed before the evening rush hour Friday afternoon. Drivers are asked to avoid this intersection if at all possible and to seek an alternate route while the work is ongoing.
