The show will go on at E.J. Moss Elementary School in Lindale on Thursday night, but with modifications to the fifth grade musical program, “In God We Trust."

The Lindale School District recently received a letter from the Freedom From Religion Foundation claiming the program included speeches and songs that were unconstitutional and in violation of the First Amendment citing it is illegal for a public school to compel students to participate in religious expression.

The FFR further says the performance is more of a worship and praise program and should be confined to a church setting, not a school.

After consulting with their attorneys, Lindale school officials decided to make changes to the program to meet state and federal guidelines. The name of the play, however, will remain "In God We Trust."

The FFR was originally contacted by a concerned parent at LISD.
