The pumpkin spice lattes are out, so we know the actual pumpkins are not far behind.  East Texas will have plenty of great pumpkin patches up and running this fall, and we've got the first look.

St. Patrick Catholic School in Lufkin is planning a pumpkin patch again this year, starting October 1 and open through Halloween.  They're located at 2116 Lowry Street and they'll be open from 10am to 6pm Monday through Saturday, and also after weekend masses.

Moore Farms in Tyler will have not only the pumpkins, but also tractor-pulled hay rides, a corn maze, and school tours during the week.  They'll be open on Saturdays from 10am to 6pm and Sundays from 1pm to 5pm starting October 1.

The Texas State Railroad in Rusk will run every Saturday and Sunday starting at the beginning of October.  They'll take off from the Rusk Depot at 11:30am and 2:30pm. The Railroad's Facebook page says kids ages 2-12 can pick up their own pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, visit Trick or Treat Street, and take off on a hayride, games, and play games, all in costume if they want.  The address is Park Road 76, Rusk, TX 75785.

MSN.com says a pumpkin patch is one of those things that every family should do during the fall, and East Texas will have plenty of them.  Others are listed HERE, and as we learn of others we'll post them too.

Once it's carved, the average pumpkin only lasts only about seven days, so you might want to wait on that part.  But if you're into painting and displaying, the perfect opportunities are not far away.
