One of East Texas' own is headed to the big show.

Nick Rumbelow, a Bullard High School graduate, was called up to the big leagues by the New York Yankees on Sunday (June 21), and will be suited up in the bullpen for the Bronx Bombers' game against Philadelphia on Monday.

Rumbelow was drafted in the seventh round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of LSU. He has spent all of this season in AAA with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. He has a 2-1 record with a 3.31 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings.

He has 142 strikeouts in 116 1/3 innings during his minor league career.

Rumbelow should provide some instant relief for the Yankees' depleted bullpen. Finding a reliable right-hander to work the middle innings has been a tall task for New York this season, and Rumbelow could be the answer.

Rumbelow is the son of Jay and Lori Rumbelow, who own Bruno's Pizza in Tyler and Gresham. He is the first Bullard graduate to compete on the professional level in the major sports.

Many congrats to Mr. Rumbelow, and best of luck, from one Bullard grad to another.
