A Smith County man is jailed on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge after he fired shots at his son to scare him off his property.

52-year-old Steve Ray Swindle allegedly fired the shots when his son refused to leave his property. Smith County deputies say one of the shots ricocheted striking the son in his foot.

The son drove himself to the ETMC clinic on S. Broadway in Tyler to seek medical attention.

The shooting occurred at 7:10 pm on March 18, at a residence in the 15000 block of County Rd 2223.

The case remains under investigation.
