Merry Christmas, y'all. I hope you're spending time with and cherishing your loved ones this holiday. If you're lucky, maybe some presents are being exchanged in your living room right now. Tragically, that's not the case for one family in Smith County as their home burned down the night before Christmas Eve. KLTV reports the fire started in the living room, prompted by the Christmas tree and a space heater.
The family was inside during the time, which included the father, two boys (3 years and 16 months old) and 4-year-old girl. The boys made it out with a few 'bumps and bruises', but the girl is currently at Parkland Hospital in Dallas seeing a burn specialist.
Another close friend of the family told me it's touch-and-go for the little girl.
According to a close family friend, she has several horrible burns throughout her entire body, including her hands, feet and back. Another close friend of the family told me it's touch-and-go for the little girl.
The mother had left her babies Christmas gifts in the house before leaving for work. They are currently experiencing Christmas without their home, their beds, toys, clothes and presents.
If you can find it in your heart to help this family this holiday, there are a couple ways to do so:
- A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family, which is being shared by all news sources
- IHOP in Lindale is accepting drop-off donations
- Uptown Vapor (4000 S. Broadway) and Uptown Vapor (Green Acres Shopping Center) are accepting material and monetary donations - please make checks payable to Rebeka Bradshaw
If you are inclined to donate clothes, here's a little information on sizes (please see bottom for specific sizes):
- 12-18 Month Boy
- 3 Toddler Boy
- 4 Toddler Girl
- Large in Men
- Large in Women
Already many people have helped the family by sending prayers, donations, and even their time this Christmas but they still have a long way to go before even thinking about a Happy New Year.
