Sometimes we get so busy and distracted by routines and things, it's easy to forget to stop and be grateful for some pretty important stuff. Like good health.

There's a benefit coming up in Ben Wheeler to help a girl get a special dog that will help with her medical condition. Here's how you can help.

Sydnye Joiner, a 14-year-old from Sulphur Springs, needs a Diabetic Alert Dog. The group Paws for a Better Life is holding its first benefit concert in Ben Wheeler at Moore's Store on Nov. 14, and they'll have a raffle and a silent auction with proceeds set aside for Sydnye's dog..

Diabetic Alert Dogs are amazing! They can detect high or low blood sugar levels in people before the glucose meters can. They have an uncanny sense that can help save lives, and what's more, they probably become pretty fantastic, loyal companions for their owners.

All we have to do to help Sydnye get her dog, is rock out a little bit at the benefit concert Nov. 14 and buy some raffle tickets. Davis Allen and the Dukes will play, along with Wayland Hicks and the Travelers.

Check out www.pawsforabetterlife.net to learn more about the amazing work they do, and we'll see you in Ben Wheeler on the 14th, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Moore's Store.
