Today marks the start of early voting in Texas, and the Presidential election is expected to be a big draw. Voter turnouts are always higher in presidential election years than in years when we're not voting on a US President.

In Tyler, voters also have a big decision to make when it comes to alcohol sales. Do you know exactly what you're voting on?

There are four proposals in all regarding alcohol sales. Two would legalize the sale of beer and wine within the Tyler city limits and Justice of the Peace Precinct 2, which includes unincorporated areas surrounding southern Tyler, Flint, Noonday and Bullard. Two other proposals would expand mixed beverage sales in those jurisdictions.

The arguments for alcohol sales so far seem to have cited the economic benefits. The arguments against have cited concerns over public safety, from drunk driving to domestic violence.

There are five Smith County locations open to cast early ballots. Just click HERE for the hours and locations.

During early voting, what precinct you live in doesn't matter, and you can vote when and where it's convenient for you.

Early voting runs through November 2.
