Election day is coming up Saturday (May 11) and East Texans have until 7 p.m. today to cast a ballot in early voting to avoid the rush on election day.

To assist voters with early voting, the Smith County elections Office has opened a new early polling location in Tyler and will be open until 7 p.m. today at 302 E. Ferguson in addition to the other early polling locations throughout the county. For a list of complete early voting locations check the Smith County Elections page and Gregg County elections page get out there and make your vote count. Residents of the Tyler Independent School District will be voting on a bond proposal valued at $160.5 million. It will add an additional middle school and renovate or replace other middle and elementary schools and create a career center for high schools.

Residents of Whitehouse will be voting on a proposal that would allow alcohol sales within the city for off-premise consumption.

Longview residents will be voting on Proposition 1 which seeks to legalize the sale of alcohol for off premise consumption citywide.

Voters throughout East Texas are facing huge decisions with this spring's elections.
