Dave Grohl Goes Doom Metal
A month after Dave Grohl teamed up with the surviving Nirvana bandmates and rock icon Paul McCartney for a brand new song, the hardest-working man in indie rock is back with a new project: producer and drummer on a new record by Swedish doom metal band Ghost.
Grohl recently cut a cover of the Abba song ‘I’m a Marionette’ for the B-side of the upcoming Ghost single ‘Secular Haze.’ The mega-selling Swedish pop group originally released the song in 1977. Needless to say, Ghost’s version is decidedly less fluffy than Abba’s. (You can listen to Ghost’s cover below.)
The Foo Fighters frontman has had a busy couple of months since announcing that his main band will be taking a break. In addition to the McCartney collaboration ‘Cut Me Some Slack,’ Grohl premiered ‘Sound City,’ a documentary he directed about a legendary recording studio, last week at the Sundance Film Festival, where he performed with John Fogerty and Stevie Nicks, among others.
