Today (April 5) marks the 18th anniversary of Kurt Cobain‘s death. There have been countless theories about the former Nirvana leader’s suicide inside his Seattle home on April 5, 1994, at the age of 27, and how rock history would have been different had he lived. One person who has a pretty good idea is Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love.

Mark Yarm from SPIN interviewed Love for his book, ‘Everybody Loves Our Town: An Oral History of Grunge.’ The Hole frontwoman gives an interesting take on how the couple’s lives would have ended up if Cobain were alive today.

We’d probably live on the Upper West f—in’ Side now and have three f—in’ kids. We might even have a divorce, like both be on our third marriage. I don’t f—in’ know. He might be a playwright, [or have] his latest show in MoMA [New York's Museum of Modern Art].

Love stressed that this was all just speculation and doesn’t know for sure how their lives would have played out. However, she continued to offer more scenarios of possible alternate outcomes:

“I’d have a 16-year-old son and be his model wife,” Love theorizes. “Given the money that is involved here, we could probably have had a f—in’ yacht. We could have gone open marriage at some point. I don’t f—in’ know.”

Maybe in another lifetime, Courtney Love would never have accused the Muppets of raping Kurt Cobain’s legacy.
