Country Singer Trace Adkins in Hot Water After Wearing Confederate Flag Earpiece During Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting [POLL]
Country singer Trace Adkins is receiving some criticism after he wore a Confederate flag earpiece during his nationally televised performance on NBC Wednesday night (11/28) at the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting.
Some are calling Adkins a racist in Twitter postings.
Adkins is currently on a USO tour in Japan. He posted the following comment on his website from Okinawa, Japan:
As a proud American I object to oppression of any kind.
To me, the battle flag represents remembrance of my Southern lineage – I am a descendant of Confederate soldiers who followed that flag into battle.
I advocate for the preservation of America’s battlefields and honest conversation about our Country’s history.
To those who view the flag as a symbol of racism, that was not my message and I did not intend offense.
Here is some Youtube video of the performance:
So what do you think? Is this something that Trace should have put a little more thought into before displaying the Confederate flag on national television?
