Chrysler has just announced a recall for Jeep Grand Cherokees and Jeep Libertys because of potential gas tank fires.

The government has asked Chrysler to recall 2.7 million SUVs in order to prevent gas tank fires caused by impact to the rear of the vehicles.

Included in this recall are Jeep Grand Cherokee 1993-2004 models and Jeep Liberty 2002-2007 models.

Chrysler defends that the vehicles are not defective and that this action is purely precautionary.
