MCA, an iconic member of the rap group Beastie Boys, has died at age 47, multiple outlets are reporting.

MCA, whose real name is Adam Yauch, was diagnosed with cancer in 2009. The illness sidelined the Beastie Boys' tour at the time, including a stop at Austin City Limits music festival. TMZ is reporting it is currently unclear if his death is related to his diagnosis, which was a cancerous parotid gland and lymph node.

MCA co-founded Beastie Boys with Mike D and Ad Rock in 1979. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.

He is survived by his wife and daughter.

Rest in peace, MCA. We'll relive the Beastie Boys' greatness with some 'Intergalactic.'
