Texas born and raised bluesman Johnny Winter has died at the age of 70. Johnny was on an extensive tour when he passed away in a hotel room in Switzerland.

Johnny and he brother Edgar grew up in Beaumont, Texas and started their musical careers together at a very early age. They often appeared together on children's TV shows and talent contests.  Johnny formed his first band at 15 and made his first record at 18.

In all, Winter has released more than 25 albums with a new album, Step Back, set for release on September 2nd.

A note on Facebook stated: "His wife, family, and bandmates were all saddened by the loss of one of the world's finest guitarist."
