ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons is about to embark on a very different kind of tour.

Gibbons stars in the new Discovery Channel pilot Rockin Roadsters, which debuts Feb. 29 at 10PM ET and finds him embracing his love of "loud rock 'n’ roll – and even louder hot rods." Teamed with professional hot rod builder Jimmy Shine, Gibbons is ready to "hit the open road in an impromptu search of the perfect fixer-upper." You can watch a trailer for the show above.

According to the press release announcing the show, Gibbons and Shine's partnership is "often easier said than done." Shine hinted at the battle of wills between the Rockin Roadsters co-stars, saying, "They call Billy the Howard Hughes of the blues because he’s eccentric. Billy has his vision and I have mine. And sometimes it can be a bumpy ride getting to the finish line."

Along the way, Gibbons and Shine settle on a "rusted and dinged-up" 1984 El Camino, which the team sets about fixing up for a "big Hollywood event just three weeks away." With Shine and his mechanics under the hood, Gibbons makes sure his influence is felt with an assortment of "unconventional parts" from his collection — including a bass drum pedal — and a "hidden 'Billy-ism'" somewhere in the car.

Rockin Roadsters is part of a recent flurry of activity for Gibbons, who only recently came off the road in support of his Perfectamundo solo album and will soon embark on a run of spring dates with ZZ Top that the band's calling their "Hell Raisers" tour. Check out a complete list of dates, and visit the Discovery website for more information about the show.
