Holly Lake Ranch is home to many East Texans in Wood County and a great lake to hang out by.

And, as witnessed Tuesday, also home to a seven-foot-long alligator.

Or at least, it was home. The gator was caught by Mark McDonald, a man whose job it is to catch and relocate alligators with Texas Parks and Wildlife. McDonald was looking for a bigger alligator when he caught this one.

McDonald told told KLTV, "He's a male. In 5 years, he'll be 10-feet-long and weigh 300 pounds. At that time, you don't want him in Holly Lake with houses all over the shore and poodles walking up to the water."

McDonald's advice if you see an alligator: give them space. "Don't put yourself in a position to get hurt, you have to go into their habitat most of the time to get hurt," McDonald said.

The alligator will be relocated to Jefferson.
